Why Is QNT (Quant) Price Surging? 5 Drivers Behind the Rally Explained

Quant (QNT) went from a quiet mid-cap token to one of the most watched assets in crypto in late September 2026, climbing from about $105 on September 26 to a post-announcement peak near $357 in a matter of days.

If you are asking why QNT is going up, the short answer is that major banks chose its technology for real payment infrastructure.

This guide starts with what QNT is and how its technology works, then breaks down the five drivers behind the rally. We also cover the risks and what a sensible QNT price prediction 2026 outlook looks like.

What Is QNT? A Plain-English Primer

So, what is QNT? It is the native token of Quant Network, a British technology company that builds software connecting banks, payment systems, and blockchains. One note before going further: QNT here refers to Quant Network’s token, not the Nasdaq-listed company that shares the ticker.

The token has a defined job inside Quant’s products. Businesses pay the annual Overledger licence fee in QNT, and the token is also set to cover gas fees, meaning the computing costs of transactions, on the company’s newer rollup network.

Understanding what QNT is used for matters, as the Quant Network Overledger explained section below shows how corporate news may or may not reach the token.

Quant Network Overledger Explained

Here is Quant Network Overledger explained simply: Overledger lets one application talk to many blockchains and traditional bank systems through a single connection.

It works as an abstraction layer that coordinates messages and transactions across networks. Interoperability, the ability of separate systems to exchange value and data, is the core problem it solves.

For banks, this means they do not have to build a separate integration for every network they touch. That matters because interoperability is the real hurdle for tokenized deposits, since a digital bank balance is only useful if another bank can receive it at full value. A tokenized deposit is simply a regular bank deposit recorded and moved on programmable infrastructure.

Why Is QNT Going Up? 5 Drivers Behind the Rally

Why is QNT going up so sharply? No single headline explains it, but five connected drivers came together within a few weeks.

Driver 1: The Clearing House Picks Quant for Tokenized Deposits

On September 24, 2026, The Clearing House, the bank-owned operator of the RTP and CHIPS payment systems, selected Quant to power its On-Chain Money Initiative. Quant will provide the interoperability, orchestration and transaction-management layer for tokenized deposits, and it will also offer Tokenized Deposits-as-a-Service to banks without their own systems.

The initiative is backed by 25 of the largest US financial institutions, and the network is expected to open to participating banks in the first half of 2027. It fits a wider shift toward on-chain finance, covered in our look at how real-world asset tokenization crossed $34 billion.

Driver 2: UK Banks Go Live With Tokenized Sterling

On the same day, UK Finance reported the first live customer transactions using tokenized sterling deposits on Quant’s platform. Quant had been selected to build the UK’s tokenized sterling deposit project with HSBC, Barclays, Lloyds, NatWest, Santander and Nationwide.

The UK project matters because it moved from testing to real customer payments running on Quant’s interoperability layer. Two major banking markets backing the same provider in one week gave traders a strong reason to reprice the token.

Driver 3: Overledger Product Momentum (Murex, Fusion Rollup, Sibos)

Quant’s product pipeline was already building before the bank news. The company has worked with Murex to embed tokenized deposit and digital bond settlement into the MX.3 platform that many banks use for trading and post-trade processing.

In June 2026, Quant also launched its Fusion Rollup on mainnet, linking 74 blockchain networks in one environment. A rollup bundles many transactions together and settles the result on the networks underneath, which lowers costs and builds on the Quant Network Overledger explained above.

The timing then lined up with Sibos, a major global banking conference, where Quant and Murex planned a tokenized bond repo demonstration in Miami from September 28 to October 1. Market coverage also tied the rally to Quant’s March 2026 integration with Murex’s platform, adding to the sense of momentum.

Driver 4: A Fixed, Nearly Fully Circulating Supply

QNT has a small, almost fully circulating supply of about 14.5 million tokens, with a hard cap under 15 million, according to live Quant market data. Supply figures differ slightly from one data source to another, but the takeaway is the same.

With almost no new tokens left to enter the market, a sudden jump in demand has little fresh supply to absorb it. That scarcity can amplify price moves in both directions.

Driver 5: Technical Breakout and Leverage Flows

The fundamental news triggered a technical breakout, with QNT breaking above a long-term descending trendline as trading volume surged. By early October, the daily Relative Strength Index (RSI), a momentum gauge where readings above 70 signal overbought conditions, was sitting deep in overbought territory.

As the rally cooled, the funding rate turned negative during the cooldown, meaning traders betting on a decline were paying those betting on a rise. A funding rate is a periodic payment between long and short traders that keeps perpetual contract prices close to the spot market.

Quant Network Price Analysis: The Reality Check

A balanced Quant Network price analysis has to separate the company’s wins from the token’s value. Neither announcement says banks must buy, hold, or pay fees in QNT, so the link between bank adoption and token demand is still unproven. Knowing why QNT is going up is only half the picture.

The market has also cooled from its peak, with QNT consolidating in a narrower range as daily trading volume fell by more than 80%. Any Quant Network price analysis should also factor in time, since the US network does not open until 2027.

QNT Price Prediction 2026: Scenarios to Watch

Any QNT price prediction 2026 view should be treated as a range of scenarios, not a promise. Near-term, traders are watching whether QNT holds above $221 support or moves toward $277 resistance, levels drawn from recent analysis of the QNT trading range.

Longer-term models, such as this three-scenario Quant price outlook, set out bullish, base and bearish cases. The bullish case depends on the US network launching on schedule and Quant showing how bank usage feeds into token demand, while the bearish case is a deeper pullback as attention fades.

Either way, a QNT price prediction for 2026 is only as reliable as the adoption data behind it. Watch for named bank participants, live transaction volumes, and updates on the token’s role, since any Quant Network price analysis hinges on them.
