A hard fork is a blockchain software upgrade where all network validators are required to comply with the latest version. Before The Merge, Ethereum had already experienced multiple hard forks in the past, including its split into Ethereum (ETH) and Ethereum Classic (ETC) in 2016.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this new update, the story has changed since miners are no longer in the equation.
